Comparison · Verified September 2026
GM Assistant does one thing well: you hand it a recording and it hands back structured notes — recap, scene outline, NPCs, locations, items. What it never does is record. For Discord tables that difference is the whole comparison.
The short version
GM Assistant is a good notes engine and a cheap one — under a dollar an hour pay-as-you-go — but it is a two-step workflow: record your session with something else (its own docs suggest Craig or OBS for Discord), then upload the file. DiscMeet is one step: the bot is in the channel, and the notes are posted when you stop. If you already have a recording habit and play in person or across many apps, GM Assistant fits. If you play on Discord, DiscMeet removes the whole first step.
