Live transcription
Follow what’s being said in a meeting or RPG session while it’s still recording, without waiting for the notes. Anyone who missed the start can catch up, and anyone who can’t join the voice channel can follow along.
It’s on automatically for every recording; there’s nothing to set up.
Where to find it
Open Notes on the dashboard . A recording in progress shows at the top of the list as Recording now, under Meetings or RPG sessions. It shows up within about 15 seconds of the recording starting, without reloading the page.
Click it to open the transcript so far. New lines appear on their own while it’s open.
Anyone who can open your server’s dashboard can read it: the server owner, and members with Administrator or Manage Server permission.
What you see
- One sentence per line, each with its time from the start of the recording.
- Each line arrives a few seconds after the speaker pauses. Someone talking without a break, or with an open mic, is sent in pieces of up to 4 minutes, so their sentences can arrive in a batch.
- Names are spelled the way you set them. Your transcription vocabulary and campaign roster are applied as each line is saved.
- RPG sessions show character names. A player whose character is linked to their Discord account shows as that character, the same as in the finished transcript. The GM, and anyone without a linked character, shows by their Discord name.
With consent opt-in on, people who haven’t opted in aren’t transcribed, so they don’t appear here either.
When the recording ends
The transcript says the recording has ended, and its card in the list shows Notes on the way. Once the notes are ready, usually a minute or two later, the finished meeting replaces it. If you still have the live transcript open, it switches to the finished notes and transcript on its own.
The finished transcript can differ slightly from the live one:
- Names are checked again against the roster as it is at the end, so a character added during the session is picked up.
- Back-to-back sentences from the same speaker are joined into one line.
- Anyone who withdrew their consent during the recording is removed.
With Transcription only on, there are no notes, so the finished transcript takes over within seconds.
Plans
Live transcription on the dashboard is included on every plan. Reading it from your own tools through the API or MCP needs a paid plan.
