Bot Not Joining Voice
If the bot won’t join your voice channel, work through this checklist.
No transcription channel set
Error: No transcription channel set! Use /discmeet setup first to set a channel for meeting transcripts.
Fix: Run /discmeet setup and configure the transcription channel before using /discmeet join.
Transcription channel deleted
Error: Transcription channel no longer exists! Use /discmeet setup to set a new one.
Fix: Run /discmeet setup and select a new channel for transcriptions.
Bot missing permissions in voice channel
Error: The bot doesn’t have permission to join the voice channel.
The bot needs in the voice channel:
- Connect
- View Channel
Fix: Check channel permissions. Ensure the bot role (or the bot’s permission overwrites) has Connect and View Channel. If needed, re-invite the bot from discmeet.com with the correct permissions.
Assistant bot not in server (multi-channel)
Error: The assistant bot is not a member of this server. Please add all assistant bots to your server to use multi-channel transcription.
Fix: Add all assistant bots to your server. Use the invite links provided when you purchased the multi-channel addon, or contact support.
Main bot busy (single-channel)
Error: The bot is already active in another voice channel. Please wait for the current session to end, or use /discmeet stop in that channel first. Need multi-channel support? Use /discmeet upgrade to add the multi-channel addon.
Fix: Either wait for the current session to end, run /discmeet stop in the active channel, or add the multi-channel addon via /discmeet upgrade.
All bots unavailable (multi-channel)
Error: All bots are currently busy or unable to join. Please wait for a current session to end and try again, or use /discmeet stop to free up a bot.
Fix: Wait for a session to end, or run /discmeet stop in an active channel to free a bot.
Re-invite the bot
If permissions are wrong or the bot is misconfigured:
- Go to discmeet.com
- Re-invite the bot with the correct permissions
- Ensure the bot has permission to view and join your voice channels
